Fundingport x HSBA: Usability Research for Better Platform Experiences
How an academic partnership with the Hamburg School of Business Administration created the foundation for evidence-based platform development at Fundingport.
Background
Fundingport, part of the Hypoport Group, operates a financing platform connecting lenders and borrowers. The platform integrates all relevant stakeholders into a digital solution, automating workflows and communication throughout the entire financing process.
A key characteristic: not individual borrowers, but professional advisors use Fundingport to generate and compare credit offers from participating banks. This B2B orientation demands particularly high usability standards.
Phase 1: Research Methodology Evaluation
In the first phase, the HSBA research team conducted an external evaluation of Fundingport's existing usability research methodology, assessing various qualitative and quantitative approaches for their suitability for B2B financing platform challenges.
Phase 2: Independent Usability Research
Building on phase one findings, the HSBA team conducted an independent usability study. The academic team's independent execution ensured results free from internal biases.
Results and Outlook
The project produced two applied and evaluated usability research approaches that sustainably support Fundingport's ongoing platform development. The methods are designed for regular repetition, enabling continuous evidence-based user experience improvement.
